Book of Light
SuperClubsPLUS Australia has collaborated with Telstra to create the Book of Light. A ‘book’ to embrace the rebuilding of the 2009 bushfire affected communities. The Book of Light project, is championed by Telstra’s former Group Managing Director, David Moffatt, together with the Victorian Department of Education and Early Childhood Education. The project will provide primary school children with the opportunity to record the regeneration of their communities following the 2009 bushfires in country Victoria.
David is personally enabling 5,000 children directly and indirectly affected by the bushfires, access to SuperClubsPLUS. By providing access to these children, aged between 6-12 years, this will give them the opportunity to participate and contribute in this safe online social learning network.
What is the Book of Light project?
SuperClubsPLUS will provide the opportunity for children and their teachers, to engage in a range of projects aimed at linking the schools, families and communities that were affected by the devastating fires.
Children will use SuperClubsPLUS to collect, develop and post their contributions in order to share with the rest of the SuperClubsPLUS community (up to 200,000 children globally).
After the projects have been completed the written stories, videos, interviews, sounds and photographs will be collated to form an online interactive based compilation - The Book of Light - celebrating the children’s communities as they rebuild. The Book of Light will be available online for all SuperClubsPLUS children. In addition, pending additional funds being raised, a range of the children’s work will be printed into a hardcopy Book of Light to share with the wider communities.
The project commences in term 3 (July 2009) and the Book of Light will be published in November 2009.
